Florina

Florina was the first baby to come into Kathy's care when she first moved to Romania in 2000 and volunteered for 9 months in the Children's Hospital. Florina was 10 months old and weighed less than 10 pounds. She was malnourished, had anemia, rickets and a staphylococcus infection. She was also labelled retarded and handicapped and was unable to hold her head up for more than a few minutes. Within a couple of months of loving care in Kathy’s home, Florina blossomed into a happy, healthy, normally developing baby and nine months later she was a beautiful little toddler.

Florina was adopted locally by a Romanian family when she was 19 months old.
